Additionally, the plan is to launch four new chillers by the second quarter of 2025 designed for Hyundai models like the Ioniq, Kona, and Tucson, as well as the Kia Niro.
Valeo is also expanding its offer for electric and hybrid vehicles with five new electric driven compressors designed specifically to fit the latest "eTech" platform from Renault. This includes the Kadjar, Scenic, Captur, Arkana models, as well as the highly popular Tesla Model 3 and some applications from Kia and Hyundai.
 
<h2>Oil Pumps &amp; 48V Technology</h2>
In July, Valeo launched electric oil pumps for popular models such as the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
Furthermore, the 48V DC-DC converter references 597202 and 597203, suitable for the Fiat 500, Peugeot 208, Citroen C5, and many other applications, will be launched during the first quarter of 2025. 
As 48V technology is mentioned, it’s important to note that Valeo also offers a wide range of 48V iBSG systems. This is crucial as the car park is primarily evolving through mild hybrid vehicles.

Our innovative in-person sessions are based on simulators that allow mechanics to engage in over 150 real-life repair scenarios—ensuring they are better prepared for the challenges they will face in the workshop. Unlike traditional training programs that often focus on a limited set of problems tied to a single vehicle type, our simulator-based sessions cover a wide range of repair scenarios. This comprehensive approach allows mechanics to gain practical experience across various makes and models, significantly expanding their knowledge and skills.
The simulators allow mechanics to work with all components found in electrified vehicles, including batteries, inverters, and electric motors. They will gain a deep understanding of the interaction between these systems and components and will use real tools—including calibration equipment—during their training. 
Valeo is capable of training mechanics in EV for all architectures, diagnosing failure combinations, and understanding all of the possible solutions and situations they might come across. In workshops, 60% of time is spent on diagnostics, yet many assessments are too slow or inaccurate, leading to claims, driver dissatisfaction, and lost productivity. Our new simulator-based training enables mechanics to quickly identify issues and sharpen their problem-solving skills, leading to faster, more accurate diagnoses and improved workshop efficiency.

Skills are a key issue when it comes to EVs, but so is parts supply. While the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) predicts a shortfall of 3,000 EV-qualified technicians by 2031, finding techs will not be the only problem. Garages that want to capitalise on the growing EV/hybrid segment will also need access to a wide range of new parts for new jobs.
Providing key components such as the chiller means independent garages can confidently diversify into high-value EV and hybrid battery system repairs.The first part in Valeo’s chiller range to be released is an OE reference produced by Valeo for the Volkswagen ID3, which is available now. This will be followed in early 2025 by another four references. These will cover further VAG vehicles, as well as Hyundai and KIA.
EV and hybrid thermal management systems play a crucial role in maintaining batteries, keeping them running at the optimum level, and ultimately preventing thermal runaway, which could destroy the battery and ultimately the whole vehicle. The chiller regulates the temperature of coolant before it enters the battery, which helps to prevent heat damage. However, coolant can oxidise if left in the system for too long, which will corrode the chiller. This will ultimately require replacement as a result. Debris can also block the chiller, which reduces its performance.
The chiller will be connected to the A/C loop and its modular plate design makes it ideal for many vehicle types, from hybrids to battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Along with the Partslife Environmental Award, Valeo was given 2,500 euros in prize money. Valeo immediately donated this money to TEILEn e.V. — an NGO that specialises in road safety education for children.
 
Almost 30,000 children suffer road accidents in Germany every year, a statistic TEILEn e.V. wants to drastically change. And with their “Roter Ritter Mobil” — a traffic school on wheels — they aim to do just that.
 
Given to police authorities and traffic wardens to use on traffic safety days in day-care centres and schools, these traffic schools are already helping improve road safety in many regions across Germany.

<h2>An even more silent mid-drive unit</h2>
Valeo Cyclee™ 48V mid-drive unit is adaptive and understands what the rider wants. With a 7 speed gear automatic transmission and responding with a 130Nm torque - the highest level available on the market - it boosts all the rides, even the hardest ones.
 
Valeo Cyclee™ mid-drive unit is now more silent than ever with a noise level of the complete electric propulsion solution reduced of around -7dB. To reach this new level of NVH (noise, vibration &amp; harshness) efficiency, the new version of the Valeo Cyclee™ mid-drive unit presents a new gear geometry, and additional ribs on the cover to smooth the vibrations and additional bridges on stator stacks. With this evolution, Valeo Cyclee™ mid drive unit offers the same noise level as other less powerful solutions.
 
<h2>A new Human-Machine Interface solution</h2>
To give its users the best experience, Valeo keeps on improving its solutions. Valeo Cyclee™ introduces a stylish Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solution made of a smart dock, a 2” touch display and a remote with a rotative throttle. The new HMI seamlessly transitions from city to mountain, thanks to multiple assembly positions and a removable display. Valeo smart dock Phone-as-a-Key system also automatically locks the eBike when the rider steps 3 meters away. Although an anti-theft system already existed on the motor gearbox, this new device enhances user safety with a secure, easy-to-use locking system tailored to the needs of e-bike users. This technology brings an answer to the rise of thefts due to the growing value of ebikes. 
 
Aiming to reduce its ecological footprint, this new HMI has been designed for easy assembly and disassembly, and the materials used include up to 30% recycled plastics. 
 
Beyond the design and the selection of more sustainable material, Valeo’s HMI uses Velco Suite, a software suite developed to meet the connectivity and adaptability needs of cyclists, as well as those of bike sales and repair networks. 
 
This software provides connected services through 3 distinct applications:
<ul><li>Assembly Assist module: This WEB application is intended for bike makers and dedicated to the pairing and integration tests of drive unit, battery, connected HMI on bikes at the end of the assembly line. It is also used to report diagnostic information for e-Bikes. </li>
	<li>Diagnostic Service module: this web application is intended for bikes shops &amp; dealers to diagnose &amp; calibrate the ebike, update electric kit firmware components and provide drive unit &amp; components providers hotline support towards bike shops. </li>
	<li>Rider module: Velco Rider is a white label mobile application for the riders to offer the best riding experience thanks to valuable services. The mobile app can be customized into the ebike's brands.</li>
</ul> 
The complete solution is multi-engine and is aimed at all ebikes brands wanting to offer a digital experience to their customers. 
 
The Valeo Cyclee™ offer includes two HMI versions: an entry pack with the smart dock and remote, and a premium pack by adding the 2” touch display.

<h2>Valeo involved in the circular economy of ebikes</h2>
In addition to its original equipment activities, Valeo is also involved in the circular economy of ebikes. Valeo and Smovengo, the operator of Vélib' Métropole, the self-service bicycle hire scheme run by the City of Paris and 64 of its communes, have joined forces to recondition the motors and batteries of the 8,000 electric Velibs that ply the streets of Greater/Grand Paris. 
 
Two Valeo sites specialized in reconditioning were selected for the partnership with Smovengo: the “Circular Electronics Laboratory” in Nevers for the batteries, and the “Circular Innovation Factory” in Czechowice (Poland) for the motors.
