What is parking assistance and how should you install parking sensors ?

Want a relaxing drive and stress free parking? Parking sensors are now a common accessory on many new cars and a highly desirable aftermarket add-on. So, how do they work? What are the aftermarket options? And, how do you install them? Read on to learn more…

How does park assist work?

We all know the feeling, trawling up and down a busy street looking for that elusive parking space, and then you spot one – it’s tight, but maybe you can squeeze in. A crowd gathers. Are your parking skills up to the task?

If your car is fitted with parking sensors, it’s a total breeze. Your parking sensors – ultrasonic sensors installed in your bumpers, or cameras mounted around the car – measure the distance between your car and other objects, like the car you’re swiftly reversing towards in the tight little parking spot. As the crowd wonders if they’re about to see an accident, a beeping sound in the cabin (and perhaps a video screen) is alerting you to the fact you’re getting closer and closer. You stop with plenty of room to spare and the crowd breathes a sigh of relief.

Valeo brings parking assistance to the aftermarket

Now with Valeo Service, the aftermarket can benefit from parking assistance technology. The

Valeo parking assistance range includes six kits containing either parking sensors, parking cameras, or a combination of both.

Installing parking sensors increases your customers’ safety on the road by helping them to avoid accidents, while also saving them money on costly repairs.

Recommend parking assistance to your customers and take the stress out of parking for them today!

And for those customers who often have to park in narrow or poorly lit parking spots, we  suggest Valeo ParkVision. ParkVision’s wide angle camera and LCD screen in the cabin allows drivers to see exactly where the rear of their car is in relation to the surroundings, making tricky parking very easy.

How do you install parking sensors and cameras?

Installing Valeo’s beep&park and ParkVision range is actually very simple. It can be done in 5 simple steps:

  1. Install the sensors in the front and/or rear bumpers, or the camera on the license plate
  2. Choose the appropriate angle rings for that particular vehicle
  3. Install the angle rings
  4. Install the speaker and LCD screen
  5. Connect to the power supply
